The Ebola outbreak has spread through West Africa, America and Europe, claiming thousands of lives – watch this 60 second explainer to get the key facts on the virus and its symptoms
The deadly Ebola outbreak, which started in Guinea, has
now spread through West Africa, the US, Europe and now is confirmed in the
UK.
An NHS worker was diagnosed with Ebola after returning to Glasgow from Sierra
Leone and is now being moved
to specialist facilities in London.
The woman, who had been working in Sierra Leone with Save the Children, has
been in isolation in hospital in Glasgow since Monday morning and is in a
stable condition.
It comes as another patient undergoes tests for possible Ebola symptoms at the
Royal Cornwall Hospital, near Truro, after being admitted on Monday evening
having returned from a "high-risk" area.
Said to be one of the most virulent viral diseases known to humankind, the
virus causes death in 50 to 90 per cent of all clinically ill cases.
