Yaba Local Council Development Area has purchased infrared Ebola detector to curtail the spread of the dreaded virus.
The council Chairman, Hon. Jide Jimoh urged the council personnel to be careful in their routing activities to avert rapid spread of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).
He made the statement at a one-day programme tagged: Ebola “Fear not” to sensitize the council personnel on the outbreak of Ebola Virus Diseases (EVD). The council boss said workers should not be exempted from the campaign against the spread of the virus, saying they are part of government.
“Though, we have been educating residents on how to control the spread of the disease likewise it is important to sensitize our staff, he said. He urged the council staff to maintain hygienic environmental standard in their various offices and take necessary precautionary measures to contain Ebola Virus.
The council boss announced the purchase of temperature screening instrument and protective equipment like gloves, gowns, boots, facemask and many more as a measure to control the spread of the virus.
He appreciated the Primary Health Department and Environmental Department of the council for a job well done in sensitizing the public on daily basis on the virus.
In his speech, Dr. Tunde Oloyede tasked Yaba LCDA staff; most especially the Primary Health staff to be careful in taking care of patients in their various PHCs. He said the early diagnosis and test of Ebola virus is similar to that of infections like malaria, typhoid etc.
“Always use protective equipment, avoid hand shaking, washing of hands properly immediately after handshake and ensure proper fumigation of the PHCs every time, he said.
At the programme, staffs of the council were screened with the newly purchased temperature machine to check their health status.
